INTRODUCTION:                                                                                                                                                                                    Drugs are those chemical substances that can change a person’s physical as well as mental states. It can affect the way of your brain working as how we feel, how you behave as well as you’re understanding and working of your senses also. When we consumed in high amounts of drugs then it causes a change in organism’s physiology including its psychology. Drugs are typically distinguished from food and other substances that provide nutritional support. Usually, Drugs are used to prevent diseases, but many persons of our world misuse the way of drugs. consumption of drugs via orally, injection, smoking, or inhaling etc. Drugs may also refer to an illegal or restricted substances by the narcotic department.

SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSE OF DRUGS: It may exhibit various symptoms depending on the type of drug is involved. Symptoms also vary individual to individual by taking the amount of consumption, and individual tolerance.


  • Blue lips or blue fingertips
  • chest pain
  • irregular heartbeat
  • vomiting
  • loss of consciousness
  • difficulty in breathing
  • mental and behavioral changes
  • Change in body temperature.
EFFECTS OF DRUGS:                                                                                                                                                                                            Overdose of drugs remains a leading cause of death in the world. In addition, Death due to drugs are accelerated during the pandemic (COVID- 19). The effects of drugs vary widely depending on the specific amount, quality, method of intake and overall, on individual’s health.

1- RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS: It is the most common effect of drug overdose. It affects our respiratory system of the individual’s body. Sometimes, it may be dangerous for the person who take it. Overconsumption may lead to death of the individuals.

2- VOMITING: It is also a very common symptom of overdose especially in the high consumption of alcohol. This affects our Nervous System.  This can be dangerous when the people are alone during the overdose.

3- COMA: When enough oxygen can’t get by the individual to the brain, then it can cause a coma. Recovering from coma can take a lot of time. Coma also may lead to problems with memory and communication. Sometimes, individual never recover due to coma.

4- DEPRESSION: All individuals who use drugs will experience depression, and not all individuals with depression will turn to drugs. However, the co-occurrence of substance abuse and depression is not uncommon. Both conditions require attention and appropriate intervention.

5- CARDIVASCULAR PROBLEM:  Drugs can also affect individuals’ heart and blood vessels. It arises cardiac arrest in the body of the druggist.  It also effects can range from temporary changes in heart rate and blood pressure to more severe.

PRECAUTION: Taking precautions when using militicians or substances is crucial to ensuring the safety of the person and minimizing the risk of the adverse effect of the drugs.


  • Follow prescribed dosages by the doctor in sufficient amount at a time.
  • Inform doctor which prescribed your medicines when in any case you can see any type of allergies or adverse reaction of the medication.
  • Read the labels and instructions given on the in front of the medicines.
  • Pay attention to the warnings, contradictions and potential interactions with other substances.
  • We should avoid alcohol and drug interactions.
  • Be aware of the side effects of the prescribed medications by the doctors.

CONCLUSION: Drug overdose is a very serious issue in the world. It is important to recognize the signs of the overdose and take immediate medical treatment, if someone is suspected to the drug overdose. Prevention efforts, education, access to treatment and harm reduction strategies are crucial in addressing the ongoing public health crisis of the drug overdose. Delayed or inadequate response to an overdose can lead to life-threatening complications, including respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, or other organ failures.
